The Stuttgart Philharmonia Choir was formed in 1986. From monumental symphonic-oratorial compositions to a cappella works for smaller ensembles, they feel at home in a variety of genres and styles. Oratorios from the 18th to the 20th century form the main focus of their work: they present about a dozen large-scale compositions each year. They have already sung in Japan, France, Czechia, Spain, and Hungary.
In 2012 the choir was featured at the opera concert of Anna Netrebko and Erwin Schrott in Baden-Baden, after which they were invited to the Advent concerts in Salzburg. Recently they participated in productions of Bach’s Mass in B minor, Verdi’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 2. They appeared at a staged performance of Liszt’s Via crucis at the Miskolc Opera Festival in 2011, the bicentennial year of the composer’s birth.
